The English-born product of Westlake Boys High School, Rob Loe has had a long and notable career in the Australian NBL, primarily with the BNZ Breakers, but with stints at the Cairns Taipans and Melbourne United.
Beginning in 2016 has had multiple stints with the BNZ Breakers. He has become a key veteran and a fan favourite in NBL26. The forward brings a steady presence and an accurate eye to the game.
Loe is a cornerstone of New Zealand's domestic and national basketball programs. He represented New Zealand at the 2014 and 2019 FIBA World Cups and was a member of the Tall Blacks team that won a bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Scoring 10 points against the Perth Wildcats on Saturday, Rob Loe became the 18th BNZ Breaker to score 1,000 points for the club.
Ten Kiwis are among the 18 players in the distinguished club, with Rob joining Tom Abercrombie, Kirk Penney, and Corey Webster in being the four Westlake Boys' High School and Harbour Basketball alumni to reach the mark.
Mike Chappell was the first BNZ Breaker to score 1,000 points. The Michigan native did so in 2004, taking just 51 games to accomplish the feat at 19.6 points per game.
Kirk Penney reached the mark quickest. The Breaker great averaged a staggering 24.7 points per game, taking just 41 appearances to clock 1,000 points.
Tom Abercrombie, the club’s all-time leading scorer, took 97 games to post his 1,000th point but it should be remembered he played two seasons as a Development Player, during which time his playing minutes were less significant than later in his career.
Parker Jackson-Cartwright, working his way up the club’s all-time player scoring list, passed 1,000 points late last season. PJC averaged 19.8 points across 51 games – second-best average behind Kirk – to log his 1,000th point.
Congratulations to Rob his outstanding performance!
