NBL Champion and Tall Blacks Power Forward Tom Vodanovich is returning to the Sky Sport Breakers after playing for the Sydney Kings the last two years.
The 27-year-old is the fifth kiwi to be confirmed in Mody Maor’s roster alongside Tom Abercrombie, Rob Loe, Sam Timmins, and Dan Fotu.
Vodanovich’s signature caps off an excellent week for the new coach after convincing highly sought after Australian Guard Will McDowell-White to also return to the club.
Maor has now filled six of his 12 roster spots with a core of players who have significant experience playing alongside each other.
“I expect Tommy to be a tremendous force as we re-establish our culture and identity,” said Maor.
“Whether it’s on the floor with his physical presence and established three-point shooting or in the locker room, Tom has grown significantly over the past couple of years both as a person and as a basketball player.
“I am delighted we can bring him back home on a two-year deal.”
Vodanovich’s link to the Breakers stretches back to 2018, when he first played as a development player for the club.
He was rewarded with a full roster spot in 2019 and played 23 games before spending the last two seasons with the Kings, culminating with winning the championship earlier this month.
“I am a better player having played with the Kings. From when I left two years ago to winning a championship, I think my game’s got a lot better,” said Vodanovich.
“The Breakers have had a tough couple of years with COVID, but they’re putting together a kiwi core under a new coach.
“It’s a great opportunity and a no-brainer to come back to the club I love.”
